Thomas McNally, the owner and principal investigator of Emerald Eye Investigations and Consulting LLC, leads our full-service private investigation firm with over two decades of distinguished experience in federal and local law enforcement. His background is the foundation of our firm's commitment to delivering professional, discreet, and evidence-driven results.
Tom began his extensive career in 1996 with the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP), where he was assigned to the San Diego Sector. During his tenure, Tom became a founding member of the sector's Special Operations Team and later served as the Assistant Director of small arms instruction. He then promoted to serve as a Special Agent with the U.S. INS (now HSI), dedicating himself to complex investigations in the Anti-Smuggling Unit, including conducting undercover operations against transnational organized crime, such as the notorious Arellano-Felix Organization. Further demonstrating his tactical and investigative reach, Tom was deputized as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal, serving on a multi-agency task force dedicated to nationwide fugitive apprehension.
Transitioning to local law enforcement in 2005, Tom excelled as a Detective in a Phoenix metropolitan area police agency's Criminal Investigation Division. In this role, he was responsible for leading investigations into violent crimes, sex crimes, and homicides, often collaborating with federal partners including the FBI, DEA, BATFE, and U.S. Marshals Service. He holds specialized training and certifications in crime scene management and evidence collection from the FBI, criminal jurisdiction in Indian Country from the DOI/BIA, and child fatality investigations from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Mr. McNally founded Emerald Eye Investigations and Consulting LLC to leverage this high-level investigative expertise for our private clients—ensuring that every case, from complex criminal defense cases to sensitive personal matters, including police misconduct and illegal search and entry, is handled professionally and with an unwavering focus on integrity. We also offer comprehensive surveillance services to meet our clients’ needs.
